Whistler

Home to Whistler and Blackcomb, two of the best ski mountains in North America, and a summer playground for outdoor enthusiasts, the Whistler area is paradise on a grand scale. Offering a combined total of over 200 marked trails down the mountains, and 12 magnificent bowls, snowboarders and skiers delight in this snow coated heaven.

Not all winter activities, however, have to involve skis. Attempt shoeshoeing and discover how First Nations people walked across the snow hundreds of years ago. Bundle up the family and ride in a horse-drawn carriage complete with jingle bells! For something out of the ordinary, tour through the evergreen valleys in a traditional dog sled. Mush! Mush!

When the white stuff disappears, the excitement in Whistler doesn't slow down. The snow melts off the ski trails revealing exciting, daring mountain bike tracks. Race down the mountainside at full speed and feel the wind in your face and the sun on your back. If the challenge of riding up the mountain face isn't in your plans, lifts run year-round to carry you and your bike back to the top for another run. If mountain biking isn't your thing, try glacier skiing at the top of the Blackcomb Mountain from June to August. Whistler is one of the only four-season ski resorts in the world! Known worldwide as a skier’s paradise, Whistler has also earned its reputation as a world-class golf destination. Home to four award-winning designer courses, Whistler challenges the most skilled golfer.

The villages are a shopper’s delight filled with classic shops, fun stores, and funky boutiques. Restaurants and bistros scent the air with the smells of hot cocoa and tasty meals. Whistler Village is a pedestrian only area at the base of both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains and is within walking distance of the ski lifts. At the foot of Blackcomb Mountain, Upper Village is home to Chateau Whistler Resort and the Blackcomb Lodge. Whistler Creekside Village and Village North also offer great, one-of-a-kind shops and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Whistler is located on the Sea to Sky Highway (Hwy 99), 123 km (77 mi.) north of Vancouver, and is easily accessed by train, bus, and air from Vancouver.
